101 in 1001

The following, up to the date listed, is stolen from my friend's blog. (I seem to get a lot of ideas from her.


So, here are the rules and stuff.

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be both realistic and stretching.

Why 1001 Days?: 1001 days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organization and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Start Date: Wednesday, 12 November 2008
Finish Date: Tuesday, 9 August 2011

Entertainment/Relaxation/Health:
1. do something fun for New Year’s
2. knit wrist warmers
3. finish my cabled scarf
4. have girlfriends over for a clothes swap
5. organize all my school stuff
6. see a show at Bruka
7. go ice skating at the rink downtown
8. take a community cooking class
9. go snowboarding
10. go the nearby hot springs
11. see a show at the Pioneer Center
12. have friends over for dinner
13. find out my blood type
14. go snow shoeing
15. have friends over for breakfast
16. carve a pumpkin
17. join a gym
18. improve my skating time
19. get a good night’s sleep every night for a week
20. go to dentist for two cleanings a year
21. fly a kite
22. have a candle-lit bath
23. purge my NetFlix queue of movies that I added but don’t really want to see
24. go to a concert (11/22/2008 --> NKOTB)
25. start walking/jogging in the mornings again
26. go out with my cousins in CA

Glorious books:
27. read The Graveyard Book
28. read at least five Shakespeare plays that I have not already read
29. sell, trade, or give away all my old books that I don’t want and/or need anymore

Glorious food:
30. make horchata
31. make chicha morada
32. make pumpkin pancakes
33. make pumpkin ice cream
34. keep basil alive over the winter (note: find someone who can take care of it while in AZ)
35. organize all my recipes
36. learn how to prepare a food that I don’t actually eat (like steak, or hamburgers)
37. go a month without forgetting about various fruit/veg before it goes bad
38. try a new food
39. make sushi
40. eat at three local restaurants I have yet to experience
41. learn how to barbeque without the aid of anyone else
42. learn to toss pizza dough
43. participate in The Daring Bakers
44. use each of my cookbooks at least once within two months
45. take my own lunch to work for a month
46. make pho
47. bake an apple pie

Other:
48. actually send gifts I purchase for others
49. successfully participate in NaBloPoMo
50. start writing snail mail
51. donate blood
52. actually print out photos and put in a photo album
53. frame my Ben Jonson page
54. don’t drive for distances 4 miles or less (ride bike!) for at least a month
55. make a decision about what to do with my life (both where to live and what to do) and be happy with it!
56. finish 098 syllabus long before the summer semester begins
57. get engaged (but only if the man, time, and situation are right, but I figure, two years might be long enough to achieve all of that)
58. find Robyn (from hs)
59. due to the insensitive insinuation that my previous item for this number suggests in regard to my current relationship, my new #59 is: go parasailing
60. skate at Mira Loma Park
61. renew my passport
62. start writing short stories again
63. be kissed at midnight on New Year’s
64. make a list of my top ten worst traits and try to get rid of one of them (even if it’s the least offensive on the list :D)
65. knit Cam a hat to match the scarf I made
66. send someone a care package
67. send a friend or family member flowers for no particular reason
68. go puddle-jumping
69. get to know my neighbors
70. knit Yumiko’s baby a hat and booties
71. go Christmas-light viewing
72. try cross-country skiing
73. smile at one random person each day

86. learn how to mohawk without stumbling (over both my feet and my mind)
87. do 50 push-ups in a row
88. re-learn all the state capitals

Travel:
91. go to Yosemite
92. visit Seattle (it’s been close to a decade, after all) (November 2008)
93. take a day-trip or weekend-trip to San Fran
